Community works!

Here are some of the things Kara has been involved in over the last few years in the Fayetteville community!

A Bed for the Homeless

Kara, along with her husband Kris, previously spent time in service to the community through their former volunteer association, "A Bed for the Homeless", which referred to using their truck bed to deliver donated furniture to people moving into transitional housing. They were able to deliver over 20 beds, several full living room suites, couches, chairs, and other amenities that assisted dozens of people moving into transitional housing.

CDBG in the Park

Kara and her staff recently participated at the CDBG in the Park event. They were able to engage with other community leaders and community members in order to inform them of services provided by the Clerk's office, as well as give them information about the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). While handing out FOIA packets and information packets about the Clerk's office, staff also created and enjoyed a game with prizes to youth in the community!

Keeping Public Spaces Beautiful

Out & about with the community, Kara worked to pick up trash and clean up the trails around Lake Fayetteville. She also enjoys her time at Wilson Park, Gulley Park, and other neighborhood parks. Keeping our parks and public spaces beautiful is important to Kara, and she has a passion to ensure these are clean and safe spaces for the citizens of Fayetteville to enjoy.

FHA & Public Housing

Kara's past work in needs & income-based programs and with the Fayetteville Housing Authority taught her that everyone deserves a helping hand. She is not afraid to get dirty to help others have a higher quality of life. Here Kara was helping FHA Development with a project to help clean vacant units to expedite making them ready for new occupants and improve quality of life!

Supporting Non-Profits

Kara advocated for funding that would benefit Fayetteville Non-Profits. She believes that non-profit organizations are a staple in the community that allows people to work together for the common good.

Swearing In Officials

One of her honors as City Clerk-Treasurer is the ability to swear in appointed and elected officials.

Supporting Fayetteville Police & Fire

Kara has always worked to support our local Police & Fire Departments. She maintains a great relationship with each of these departments and ensures that their departments are completely supported from her department.

Out in the Community

Kara loves a good evening in the company of other community members. She loves thinking about ways to improve the city by listening to the voices of other leadership and residents. She also enjoys attending public events such as the ground breaking ceremony that can be seen above.

Local Arts & Culture

Kara supports arts in culture in Fayetteville and frequents places such as local dining, shopping, and civic spaces such as Theater Squared for a good play.

Housing Crisis

Kara understands the need for change and openly and proudly advocates for housing reform in Fayetteville.

Hosting Events

Kara loves to collaborate with local businesses and other departments for events that bring in knowledge and tax revenue into the City of Fayetteville through events sponsored by her office.

Supporting Fayetteville Pride

Kara has been a proud and vocal advocate for the LBGTQIA+ community and supports that all people should be included, respected, and heard just the way they are.

Representation

Kara has continued to support the Arkansas Municipal League while obtaining certifications for herself and expanding the educational opportunities and certifications for her team.

Kara enjoys attending public events, listening to citizens, and working together with colleagues to find creative ways to improve the impact of the City Clerk-Treasurer's office.
